Animate the scene

Tap a fig, pick a move. Thirteen moves, group dials, and painting a move across a crowd.

The scene’s Animate tab holds the moves in a list, with the open move’s form beside it. Tap any fig on the stage or the map , pick a move, and the fig starts doing it.

The moves

The moves are thirteen: Sway, Bounce, Jiggle, Float, Bob, Drift, Flutter, Rustle, Spin, Drive, Tumbleweed, Meander, and Tumble.

Sway rocks side to side (grass, trees, signs). Bounce hops with a squish. Float drifts up and down. Bob rides painted water: the fig rises and falls with the wave. Flutter shivers. Spin turns around and around. Drive rolls out the way it faces and back. Meander wanders around its spot. Tumble is the tap move: in Showtime, a tap makes everything shake and topple; tap again to reset. Drive and the other travel moves follow the land itself: up stairs, over rims, no floating.

For exact poses, use the fig’s pose chips on its organizer form : tap a chip and the copy tweens into that saved pose.

The dials

A move’s form has a Many | One switch. On One, tap the fig that should do the move. On Many, the move is a brush: tap figs on the stage or the map to paint it on, and tap again to take it off. Done painting ends it and keeps everything moving. Take it all off clears the whole troupe. Everyone painted together stays a troupe: tap any member later and the form reopens the whole crowd with its shared dials.

The dials: Oomph (Small | Medium | Big), Speed (Slow | Medium | Fast), and for a troupe, Together (In sync | Ripple | Scattered | On the beat) and Loop rest (Nonstop | Breather | Long rest). Single figs get a Timing row (Free | On the beat). Stop moving puts the fig back to rest.

An Also row can layer one steady move on top: Float with Spin underneath makes a UFO. Moves that travel keep the ground to themselves. None clears the layer.

Drive has one more trick: Draw its route. Drag a line on the map and the fig drives that line instead of a straight roll, facing where it goes and riding the hills. Loop around | There and back picks the shape, Draw a new route replaces it, and Take the route off goes back to the plain roll.

The whole scene

The All together row holds the whole scene’s controls: Play and Stop still or start everything, THE BEAT (Slow | Medium | Fast | Tap it) is the scene’s one shared tempo, and THE MOTION (Smooth | Stop motion | Chunky) sets how many little steps every move takes. Tap it takes the tempo from your own taps. Moves set to On the beat land their cycles on that tempo. Stop motion is the app’s classic feel, Chunky is claymation.

The IN MOTION list shows every moving fig and troupe; tap a row to reopen its move.
