Words

Words puts words (speech bubbles, signs) right on placed flat sheets. Select a placed sheet on the Figs tab to open its page.

Say it

Select Add words, type your words (up to 80 characters), select a color from the palette, and select Say it. The words show right on the sheet’s face in the 3D view, in camera pictures, and in exports. The chip then shows your words; select the chip to edit them. Select Take the words off to clear them.

Size

Size sets how wide the words are on the sheet:

• Small: Takes up 45% of the sheet’s width.
• Medium: Takes up 70% of the sheet’s width.
• Big: Takes up 98% of the sheet’s width.

Changing the size updates the words at once.

Stand up

Sheets lying flat on the ground have Stand up next to Say it. Selecting Stand up turns the sheet 90° onto its edge, facing the way its front points, so it stands like a sign. The button then reads Lay it flat. Sheets on the camera lens (On the lens) don’t have it.

Words save with the copy in the scene, not with the fig file. Several copies of one sheet can each have their own words without changing the sheet in your library.

Types in

When a sheet has words, the Types in row shows: Stays, 1st, 2nd, up to 6th (as many as there are bubbles with words in the scene). During Showtime, numbered bubbles type in one after another in number order, like a conversation. Bubbles set to Stays show the whole time. Bubbles with the same number type in at the same time.

Make a speech bubble

1. Open the fig editor, add a Sheet in Add, and paint a speech bubble shape on it.
2. Place the fig in a scene next to a character, and turn it with the Turn dial or the turn handle on the 2D map.
3. Open the fig’s page and add words with Words. If the sheet lies flat, select Stand up.
4. Pick its turn in Types in, then start Showtime to check it.

Words only work on flat sheets. Solid 3D figs don’t show the Words row.
