Frame it
Put a 2D frame over the camera view.
Frame it sticks a flat sheet to the camera, so it sits in front of the whole scene like a frame.
The Frame it row
Place a flat sheet model, then select it on the Figs tab to open its page with the Frame it toggle:
- On the lens: Moves the sheet from the scene onto the camera. It stays in the same spot on screen.
- In the scene: Puts it back in the scene.
The Atmosphere › On display page has the same toggle. Use your own lists every flat sheet you can see in the scene, each with its nearest aspect ratio (e.g., Rain sheet · 16:9). Selecting one puts it on the camera. Built-in frames are in the Camera Frame row above it. See Atmosphere .
Frame shapes
Frames come in set aspect ratios: 1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:2. Adding a frame sets the Camera to the same ratio. Changing the ratio in the Camera takes the frame off (a sheet on the lens goes back to the scene).
Make a frame… (in Atmosphere › On display) starts a new model with one blank flat sheet at the aspect ratio you pick (e.g., Frame 16:9) and opens it right in the Color tab to paint.
A frame made as a pattern
You can also make a frame as a pattern. Start a New pattern from the home screen and select the Frame kind. Pick the aspect ratio (1:1, 4:5, 16:9, 9:16, or 3:2). The canvas opens at that ratio, with a see-through window in the middle 70% of the width and height. Paint it as usual.
Frame patterns don’t need to be placed in the scene. They show right under Camera Frame in Atmosphere › On display, with the name and aspect ratio (e.g., House window · 3:2). Select one to put it on the camera. Select None to take it off.
In The Camera
In a scene (not a photo scene), the Camera’s Framing page (Clip Framing in a clip) shows On the lens, with the frame that is on and its ratio. With no frame it shows none. Select it to go straight to Atmosphere › On display › Camera Frame.
Paint the frame
In Paint , selecting the See-through swatch makes the paint tools paint see-through. Setting the Eraser’s Erase to to See-through does the same. The scene shows through the see-through parts.
Frames work in photo scenes too.
The Camera captures any frame that is on. A sheet on the camera does not cast shadows in the scene.
