Make a photo scene
Put your figs inside a real photograph. The app splits its front from its back, and they stand in the picture.
Make a photo scene stands your figs inside a real photograph: your desk, your street, your bookshelf. The app splits the photo’s front from its back, so figs do not sit on top of the picture. They stand in it.
Pick the photo
The door is Photo scene on the World tab . Choose Take a photo or Camera roll, then frame it: Frame it drags and pinches the shot into frame, Warp it pulls four dots around a skewed shot and squares it. Press Use this photo and the photo becomes the backdrop. The camera locks to the photo’s point of view. Once a photo is up, the same door shows its controls: Redo the floor, Cut out the front, New photo, and Photo look.
Set the floor
Press Set the floor and a grid appears. Drag its four corners onto something flat in the photo: a rug, a tile, a patch of ground. The box on the grid shows how big a fig will be, so you can judge the scale. The Nudge button swaps to fine-tune buttons for sliding, tilting, and lens width. When the grid lies flat on the photo, press ✓ Looks flat! and figs stand on your photo.
Cut out the front
Press Cut out the front and scribble over the things that should stand in front of your figs: the plant, the fence, the mug at the photo’s edge. There are three brush sizes and an eraser. Or use Magic tap: one tap grabs the whole color region under your finger. Picky | Normal | Grabby sets how much one tap grabs, and ⇄ Flip trades what is masked and what is not.
Press Cut them out! and each blob becomes a cutout standee. Figs can walk behind them, and you can slide each standee nearer or farther in Top-down .
Match the light and the look
Photo look picks how the photo is drawn: Match style dresses it like your figs, Pixel and Flipnote go retro, Original leaves it untouched. The sun lives with the rest of the lighting: Atmosphere > Light has the sun disc, the Bright and Warm sliders, and a Match photo button that samples the photo for a starting point. See Atmosphere .
Grow land in the picture
The World tab’s land tools work on photo stages too. Plop hills, nature, and paths onto the picture. The photo keeps its own floor; everything lands on the plopped land.
Take the picture
Place your figs, then open the Camera tab and press Snap!. The camera studio shot captures the photo, the standees, and the figs between them, as you see it.
The layering is the trick: photo at the back, figs in the middle, standees in front.
