Screen faces

A placed piece's biggest flat face becomes a small glowing screen. TVs, arcade cabinets, phones.

Screen is the fourth option on a placed copy’s Surface row: the piece’s biggest flat face lights up as a small screen. Model a boxy TV, set its front to Screen, and the scene has a working television.

Where it lives

Tap the copy on the Figs tab, or open Scene › Everything in this scene , and find its Surface row: Matte | Mirror | Water | Screen. The first three are reflections, covered in Shiny surfaces . Screen glows instead of reflecting.

What the screen shows

The screen is a live view of the scene itself, drawn at low resolution with quantized color, like a small LCD. It picks the piece’s biggest flat face on its own.

Good candidates: a TV in a living room, an arcade cabinet, a jumbotron over a stadium, a phone in a giant’s hand.

The budget

Screens share the shiny budget: two shiny or screen copies per scene. Ask for a third and the app asks you to set another one back to Matte first. Reflections and screens are the most expensive pixels in the app; two keeps tablets cool.

Screens read best in the dark. Try a night atmosphere .
