The cut's camera
Every cut keeps its own framing, hold, and camera move.
Every cut remembers its own camera: where you framed the shot when you pressed Cut! is where playback puts the camera for that cut. A clip cuts between angles because you framed it that way, one cut at a time.
The shot
A cut’s controls live behind The shot, the door beside the outputs. Pick a cut, open The shot, and its rows appear:
- Hold: how long this cut stays on screen. The chip on the cut’s row reads Hold: Ns. With music loaded, the ladder turns into beats (♪).
- Camera: what the camera does during the hold. Still holds the framing. Wiggle adds a small sway. Spin turns around the shot.
- Re-cut re-takes this cut from the scene as it looks right now. Duplicate repeats the moment. Delete removes it.
Stable framing
The camera frames the whole scene the same way in every cut, so cutting between two angles never jumps in size: a fig that fills a third of the frame in cut 1 fills a third in cut 2. Frame with the same drag, pinch, and raise controls as the Camera .
Building shots
- An establishing shot: one wide cut with a long hold.
- A conversation: two cuts, one over each character, short holds, repeated.
- A reveal: Still cuts, then one Spin cut on the subject.
Jump to any cut, reframe, and press Re-cut: the framing is part of the cut, so fixing it later costs nothing.
