Your first clip
Frame a shot, press Cut!, repeat. The strip plays your cuts like stop-motion.
A clip is a strip of cuts. Each cut is one framed moment of your scene: the camera angle, everyone’s pose, the light. Playback walks the strip, holding each cut for its length. It reads like stop-motion because it is.
Shooting
In your scene, open the Camera tab and pick Clip. Clip is one of the camera’s four outputs, beside Photo, Loop, and Video. ↗ Share this scene, then Shoot a clip, opens the same camera on the Clip output. The hint says the whole method: “Frame the shot, then hit Cut!”
- Frame the shot: move the camera, pose figs, change anything.
- Press Cut!. The moment lands on the strip as a cut.
- Move things, then press Cut! again.
The strip shows every cut in order. ▶ plays the strip. The strip’s header carries the tempo chip, or + Music before a song is set. Each cut’s row carries its own chips: Hold: Ns, + Sound, and + Words. Tap any cut to jump the scene back to that exact moment and keep working from there.
Holds
Each cut holds for a length you set with its Hold: Ns chip. Holds are in seconds, and every cut can hold a different length: a long establishing shot, three quick cuts for a gag. When your clip has music with a tempo , holds flip to beats (♪), so cuts land on the music.
Editing the strip
- A cut’s row holds its chips: Hold: Ns, + Sound, and + Words. The cut’s camera lives behind The shot door.
- Reorder and remove cuts from the row.
- The whole clip door changes everything at once: see The whole clip .
Everything in a cut is a real scene state, so there is no wrong take: jump to a cut, fix the pose, and the cut is fixed.
A clip belongs to its scene and saves with it. Your scene’s clips shelf and the Clips tab both list it.
