Pin to face

Pin to face takes one part of a photo and fits it to the faces. It can fit it to the whole sheet or to one face. Use it when sliding the picture around can’t line it up.

The flow

1. Open the Photo card and select Pin to face to arm it. Corner and edge pins appear on the picture.
2. Pick where it goes with the toggle. All faces (default) puts the pinned part across the whole sheet. Single face puts it on one face; tapping another face moves it there.
3. Drag the corner pins (three on a triangle face) to mark the part of the picture you want (e.g., a label on a jar).
4. Drag the edge pins to bend the edges, for things that are curved in the picture.
5. Select Stamp all faces or Stamp the face. The pinned part goes onto the faces, stretched from corner to corner.

The pins stay after stamping, so you can adjust and stamp again. Never mind throws away the pins without stamping. Arming Pin to face turns off Cut away.

A picture not stamped yet is saved with the fig and comes back when you reopen Paint. Select ✕ on the Photo card to close it.

The pins sit on the picture and each one moves on its own, so they can fix a picture taken at an angle. Pinning the corners of a poster shot at an angle puts it flat and square on the face, like Warp it does for just that part.

Stamped parts turn into pixels at the canvas’s resolution, with the usual pixelation .

Three ways to place a photo

• Slide and stamp: Puts the picture across many faces at once, by where it sits on the sheet.
• Pin to face: Fits the part of the picture you mark exactly to the faces you pick.
• Warp it: Straightens the whole picture before you place it.
